Standard 7 covers a teachers ethical and legislative requirements, as well as their responsibilities when meeting with parents/carers and members of the wider public.

 

Teachers must always model exemplary ethical behaviour in all their dealings with students, other staff and the public. Part of this requirement is understanding of, anthe following of all relevant legislative and administrative policies and processes. Educators must also engage with and communicate with parents, carers, students and staff and the wider community. This communication serves to further broaden teachers professional knowledge and experience.

 

In English and Drama this communication brings parents and carers into the sphere of education, something which has been shown to have positive impacts on a students performance in the classroom. Similarly, teachers must be constantly aware of legislation and administrative rules when selecting texts and themes to study and teach.
